A piece of inspiration from the film “Bhaag Milkha Bhaag”

I’m talking about the title song of the film Bhaag Milkha Bhaag , “Zinda, hain toh, pyala, poora bhar le”

The words Prasoon Joshi has written are so magical (as always) & inspiring that I really was thinking how to explain its inspirational effect when every phrase has so much meaning & depth in it but one phrase that got me particularly thinking in from the film is the one below

Koyla kaala hai
Chattanon ne paala
Andar kaala, baahar kaala
Par saccha hai saala

When I try to interpret the above line, I feel he talks about being true to your character. The words resonate to me saying be yourself & make the best of whatever you are. Don’t try to be anyone else irrespective of how you are but be true to yourself & others.

The line “Koyla kaala hai Chattanon ne paala” implies to the background
“Milkha Singh” came from & the hardships & challenges he went through are what made him what he is. He never tried to be what he is not. The fact that he had a physically rough childhood are the reasons he was good at a being an athlete due to the physical hardships he must have gone through in his childhood.

“Andar kaala, baahar kaala, Par saccha hai saala “ Rather than wishing to be like others, we’d rather see what we have & be true to ourselves & make the best of what we can be irrespective of whether we are kaala or gora, it’s most important to be sacha saala J

If you have any contributions towards the interpretation of the this song, do drop your comments
